School of Spiritual Formation

c_school - School of Spiritual FormationMosaic’s School of Spiritual Formation seeks to connect theology and spirituality to the everyday issues of life. The school offers a number of different classes each semester that address topics such as: work, relationships, ethics, family, creation care, sexuality, personal development, investments and social justice. All classes meet on a fall/spring semester schedule. They are free of charge, held at Mosaic and do not provide childcare unless otherwise noted.

Partnership is an opportunity for those who call Mosaic home to formalize their commitment to the mission/vision of Mosaic. This class will help you explore how to be involved in a meaningful and intentional way. Partnership is a prerequisite for leadership at Mosaic.

Essential Theology: How to Avoid Becoming a Heretic

Tuesdays, September 30-October 28; 7:00-8:30pm
In this first of a two-section class, we’ll provide a safe place to understand the essence of following Jesus and explore the core Biblical truths without delving into doctrinal disputes. We’ll examine the basic assertions made in Mosaic’s Statement of Faith. The ultimate class aim is to facilitate life and heart transformation, not simply impart information. Bonus: instructor Martin Baggs has a British accent. Section two will be offered this winter.

Nurturing Your Child's Heart

RSVP for childcare.
What does good parenting look like when your child throws a temper tantrum in public? As parents, it’s easy to focus on outward behavior and lose sight of what’s going on inside of your kid. This class will help you learn how to shape your child’s heart which will shape his/her behavior.
This class primarily addresses parenting children grade-school age and younger, but parents of adolescents and teens will benefit as well.

The Artist’s Identity: Discovering Your Place in the Creator’s Kingdom

What does it mean for a follower of Jesus to be an artist? This class will explore what the Bible says about God as the Mastor Creator, who God says we are as artists and how that understanding impacts our work and lives.

Religions of Portland: A Doorway to World Beliefs

What makes Christianity unique among other religions? Is there only one path to God? This class will look at Islam, Buddhism and other prominent religions in Portland with the hope of better understanding and reaching our neighbors while providing a foundation of Jesus as the way to God.

God’s Guidance: Finding Your Way Through Life

    Do you struggle with knowing God’s direction for your life and feel as though he is sometimes silent? Do you wish he would just send you an email about whether you should rent or buy, marry or stay single, or about which job to take? This class will provide a Biblical basis for how God leads and guides us through the big and small choices we face.
